Me as a person
Strengths and Weaknesses
The first thing we did when we created the studio is getting to know each other and dividing roles, to do this properly we wrote down our own strengths and weaknesses. This makes it easier to choose who gets what role. Underneath here are my strengths and weaknesses:
- I can’t explain my ideas well so that the other person gets what I’m thinking about.
- I’m not a big fan of coding
- Planning and time management is sometimes hard for me.
weaknesses
- I think out of the box
- I can come up with ideas that are original
- I like doing research and document it clear
- I like bringing a fun atmosphere
strengths
Core values
For this semester I’m writing down some more core values that I’ll be working on; these are mainly focused on my growth as an ICT Media student.
- Keep Learning– I want to keep learning and gain more information and experience in the world of ICT
- Use What I Know – I want to use the skills I’ve learned so far to help people close to me or need my help.
- Show Up Well – I want to work on presenting myself in a more professional way, both in the quality of my work and how I interact with others in a work or client-like setting.
- Go With the Flow – I want to stay flexible when things don’t go as planned, and be open to new tools, methods, or apps that I’m not.
Keep Learning: I’ve always been someone who wants to understand how things work especially when it comes to technology and media. Whether it's figuring out a new app, solving a tech issue, or exploring a creative tool, I enjoy the process of learning.
Use What I Know: I don’t just want to learn skills for school, I want to actually use them. Whether it's helping a friend with their computer, editing a video for someone, or designing something small for fun, I feel like the things I’ve picked up should be useful. My family and especially my girlfriends that said that I’m a huge help in their “tech part of life” for example making the website for my girlfriends Dad.
Show Up Well: This semester, I’m trying to be more intentional about how I present myself both in how my work looks and how I communicate with others. Some of my classmates have mentioned that I always give off a calm and respectful vibe, which makes it easy to work with me.
Go With the Flow: Things don’t always go as planned whether it's a group project or learning new things. I’ve learned to adjust quickly and look for solutions rather than getting stuck. Asking a teacher or a fellow student is also part of that.
My Future Career
Animating
I’ve been thinking about what I want to do in the future after I’ve completed this study, and I’ll be breaking down what I want to do
I really enjoyed animating and developing a game for the sprint X’s I’ve done. These are definitely things I want to keep doing in my spare time. I don’t really see myself doing these things as a full time job but I will probably make some things in my free time
This was a little manga animation I made, it was my first attempt at making an image move (in this case the hair would move from the girl. Turns out that choosing the right photo to animate is a huge part of it, that’s why this one sucks lol
I made a second one from this image, this one is way easier to make because the character is facing us instead of looking away. This makes animating the hair and eyes easier, so this one turned out fairly well.
Game development
I also dabbled in some game development for a sprint X which I also really enjoyed. A few youtubers I follow make their own games and upload them on Steam. For them its also not their fulltime job but a hobby, but if you make a good and fun game you could make some real money off of it.
This was a 3d world I made for a first-person game. It contains trees and grass I pulled from an asset package, this was easier than I thought and really fun to have an insight on how these are built.
I’m planning on choosing game development for my specialisation so I can learn more and create bigger things. :D
Events
Art day Abscence
I was unable to attend the art museum trip because I had a dentist appointment scheduled for 11:50, which would have made it difficult for me to participate. Additionally, I noticed that a lot of other students were also not attending, so I didn’t feel like looking into the details of the trip or what it was about. To be completely honest, the idea of visiting an art museum didn’t seem very interesting to me, so I wasn’t particularly excited about it from the start. Because of that, I didn’t take the time to read any information about the trip or consider making arrangements to go. Given my prior reasoning and my lack of interest after hearing about the event, I ultimately decided not to participate after my appointment was done.
here u can see the appointment I had for that date, additionally I can show the new appointment I made that date when I was there.
Career day
On the 17th of April it was Fontys Career day where you got the chance to get more information about the specialisations that are next semester, and companies that are in need of interns.
There were 2 specialisations that I am interested in, so I went straight to those presentations. The first one I went to was “Multimedia Design and Concepts”. This brought me to the conclusion that for me it sounded more interesting than it is to be honest. So afterwards I walked straight to “Game design and development”. This was insightful and gave me a lot of info about what we are going to do. This in combination with a cool 2D platform game that they were showcasing was really the final thing I needed to be sure that I would absolutely love to do this specialization.
